Welcome to my website. This site is about my relationship with my son, Xavier, who happens to have Down’s Syndrome. When we were given the diagnosis my life changed forever. At first I thought it had changed for the worse, but of course that isn’t the case.
When Xavier was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome, I searched the web and was left very frustrated by the negativity that I found. When I started to come to terms with everything, I concentrated on trusting my son to teach me what it actually meant and when he was a year old I decided to write a book. Now Xavier is 5 years old and I am also writing a blog – which you’ll find here – in order to put across our reality, of being a single parent and of being a parent of a child with Down’s Syndrome.
Please don’t think that it’ll just be about Down’s Syndrome. First and foremost I am a parent, facing the many challenges that all parents face. I am also, as I’ve said, a single parent, which presents a different perspective again. But I hope that there might be something here for many of you. You’ll find details about my book, my life with Xavier, including videos, interviews and photos charting our life together. There will also be information about others who have helped me and the many myths I hope to dispel.
Basically this is a site about me and a lovely little boy called Xavier and I don’t know what will happen but then no parent does.
If there is anything you would like to say, or ask, then please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would love to hear from you.
